Hi,

Need help figuring out the type of tool holder that fits on my Gildemeister ctx400. She has a Sauter turret 0.5.480.520 with 12 positions; each one having a hole diameter of 28mm. Attached are some pictures.

Thanks,
Brad

I THINK thats vdi50, but im not a lathe guy,
The sauter turrets are capable of a number of configurations based on the "turret disc" installed.

A quick call to sauter in Michigan with the serial number could likely help you out.

Or look up the standards, and do a measurement comparison.

Never seen that type of turret before but I'm certain it isn't VDI. VDI turrets come in 10mm increments from 20 to 60.

Seems odd that there are only 3 coolant ports, it looks like they weren't done by Sauter.

Yeah I have a couple of vdi 30 tools that don´t fit it. I´ll have to see if Sauter knows what it is. Thanks for the suggestions.

Emco uses VDI 16 on a few of their machines.

That is something special. Either custom by Sauter or someone else. That turret has some sort of VDI coupling in the variants I have seen.
Maybe built so it could share tooling with an older machine ?

Just in case anyone was dying to know. I checked with Sauter. Turns out the turret disc fits Komet ABS 50 type toolholders.
