My lathe is equipped with a 10" Pratt-Burnerd 1749-02780 "Self Contained" power chuck on an A2-6 spindle mount. So the operating cylinder is within the chuck which has bores in the mount for the hydraulics.

I want to mount a similarly operated Collet Chuck but can't find a single example by googling of such a beast - has anyone experience of these things and can tell me model / maker etc to help my Google Fu back up to speed ?

I have one, don't know the mfg, there are no numbers or markings on it, I think it's made by Cincinnati Milacron. Somewhere I have a packing list I received with the machine describing the replacement of the rubber coolant seals in one of the master collets, I believe the vendor was Cincinnati for that. It uses W&S #5 style collet pads, was mounted on a Cinturn. It's for sale, if it's worth shipping across the pond.

And no, I haven't seen another, or a reference to this unit in the last 15 years or so.

That is interesting.

I have several collet chucks that werk like that - but they are for an A2-5.

What flavour lathe is this on?
