I've been pondering getting one of these lathe. Most of my production runs are <20 pieses. Been looking at this machine and a Haas TL2. The 1440 has the same chuck mount as my manual lathes so that is a plus. I'd like to be able to propgram in G code I don't think that can be done on thge SWI machine. I don't have a big budget for this machine. I might consider used. I am restarting my business after a 2 year hiatus.

Anyone have any experience with the SWI 1440?

Thanks in advance for input.

We have many 1845s and HAAS TLs. If you area looking for less cost, easier G code usage, better resale, better support I would suggest a TL lathe all day. The Trak machines are great for their target demographic of old hand converts, casual users or coffee baristas. They have a super simple but limited control. The spindles and power are about same on the two machines.

I can talk TRAK and HAAS all day if you have questions.
