    I've spent the majority of my life as a moldmaker.
    I always have a Norton India and Arkansas slip stone within my reach.
    Somewhere along the line I tried reducing the height of a small, hardened mold insert by .0001" with a stone...it did not happen.
    Cast iron is obviously different, but I do not hesitate to dress my table and vise with a fine Indian stone to find and treat upset metal.
