I haven't but always figured all that in and out of the cut would fatigue the insert. Interested to see if anyone chimes in. What model machine are you running, btw?

I would have to say that you Shirley will get less edge life with an interupted cut.
I have seen many times quicker wear on form tools running hex material, compared to a round part.
BUT:
You shouldn't be using that option if you don't need to.
And if you need to, then you are comparing less tool life to what - ratts nests?
Is that an option worth considering?
