Iíve been running, setting up, and doing periodic maintenance on 4 UMC-750ís for almost 4 years and have never had an issue with any of them. That is until one of them crashed. It hasnít been the same since. I gotta say though, for the money theyíre a pretty sweet machine. Not to say this is the problem going on here, but most all of the error codes, especially over travel codes, came down to a programming issue. I know a good majority of the guys who work for Selway, including family of mine. So Iíll make some calls in the am and see if I canít help some

As the OP thought I would update - We ended up replacing the entire brake assy. The platen and ring were seriously gouged up. Haas could not determine the cause. Appeared as though there was contamination between them or they were not true to each other upon installation. As the gouging increased, the out-of-round condition increased the friction, causing motor overcurrent.

On a side note, we discovered the table was flat .005. The majority of the table was flat .001 and then the C0-C90 quadrant had a large dip. Haas said it had to be caused by a crash

Also random - one day a couple weeks ago in the am we hit power up and the B axis decided to continue rotating all the way around. We caught it before it completed a full revolution, but it got to more than 180 deg past zero. We were able to bring it back and hit power up again without any more issues. Weird.

    Haas gives me the creeps...
So this is exactly what has happened to our UMC-500. Through sheer will power and some elbow grease we were able to take out the entire assembly from the machine. This only happened because of how much gouging there was on both the plate and the ring to the point where we couldn't even jog it a little bit so we couldn't take out the bolts that were inside and underneath the casting that separate the trunnion from the motor half. So that was fun and now we're just waiting on pricing and repair time.

Thanks for the update my friend.

Hope you get it back to making money soon! Our bill was $7k for the brake assy and 20 hours labor + travel a few times = $$$
Haas here won't perform machine calibration, so we sprung for a laser to come in. Good thing because Y drops almost 0.010" toward the front.

I have read many complaints from shop owners that have had severe problems with their Haas machines. My reply to this thread is to perhaps reach out Haas engineers, and promote my services. It's very likely that I may not be able to help, but I will surely will be able to guide them to inspect their tools at a higher level.

I'll give Gene a call this morning and tell him to get in touch with you. What's the best number to reach you?

I just got off the phone with Gene, you know, discussing the new F1 car colors, and he says your number doesn't work.

You took the bait that I set,

many of you just want to argue, PM knows this, and they know who you are.

Haas, or "Gene" have no intention of making a quality machinetool, that is obvious. Would I seriously make any attempt of soliciting business from Haas?

You're wasting your time with this one, trust me.

I am not a psychiatrist, I don't know what's wrong with otrlt, but it's not nothing.

    Now you've stirred the pot!

Those colors are ["gasp!"] RUSSIAN!! Gene's been revealed to be a commie; a pawn of the Kremlin, the FSB, and the Росси́йская Ассоциа́ция де́вочек-ска́утов (the last was Fleming's inspiration for SMERSH).

How can I ever use my Haas machines again, knowing that the oil that lubes them is Red??
