This is probably an easy one...

To the left is a basic ER16 collet and on the right is a similarly sized collet that is not ER16. What are these called? Thank you.

I'll second the NBC guess. I've got some lathes where the live tools take NBC collets. An operator who doesn't know any better has put ER collets into the holders before. They kinda fit, but the taper isn't right.

Yea and the NBC collets are like $60 ea. I just bought half dozen Kaiser tool holders thinking they were ER holders. Luckily the guy will take them back.

I just happen to have a couple NBC8 collets on my desk. I'd say that you've probably got an NBC collet, not sure what size. My NBC8s are about the same size as an ER11 collet.

Edit: The face of my collets is marked with BIG NBC 8-2.25 AA to indicate they're NBC collets, 8-2.25 indicates an NBC8 collet in 2.25mm diameter, AA class runout.

Well that was a TG collet for me too 'till the end here.
Not too old to learn yet I guess.
Although I doo shun it.
