I live in Montana and was given a 1952 fp1 in trade for work. I got a phase converter and got it going and have played around w it. The machine seems very tight and accurate but notice a noise when it's running especially at mid to higher rpms. I've never touched a milling machine till I got this one. Anybody know much about the maintenance on these? I see two different places to put oil in on the sides and the gravity feed on the top...and the various spring loaded caps to oil it. Am I missing any other major oiling?

Take the vertical head off the machine to eliminate any bearing issues.
Check the sight glass to confirm sufficient gear oil in sump.
Center feed lever so no chance the table is trying to feed against a popped shear pin.

It is a gear head miller- they make a bit of gear noise.

Post a short video with sound.

Here is a link to some manuals to begin with
Deckel FP1
Plenty more manuals where this comes from

1952 Is that with change gears for the powerfeed or a gearbox with 2 levers Like for the speeds

Thank you both for the info. I'll try and post a video too.
