    Default Deckel FP4A Spindle bearings

    Hello!

I opened my electric cabinet and found few manuals. There was a parts catalogue where was shown horizontal and vertical spindles.

Are this FP4A different than the fp4nc series in spindle bearings etc.? Atleast this lacks horizontal quill and the bearings look different? Less needle bearings?

Vertical head looks very similar to the drawings of my FP2-NC, except the hydraulic coupling.

Horizontal spindle is very different, no dreaded direct contact needle bearings.
Not sure wether thats a good or bad thing.

Dialog11 FP-NC also has no horizontal quill, spindle is much more massive instead. FP2-NC horizontal spindle is wimpy and furthermore quill locks up at high RPM. I rather have a massive spindle that can remove metal than the flimsy Dialog4 version where the quill locks up.

Dialog4 FP4NC spindle seems a bit more beefy, in contrast:

Although I agree that D11 horizontal spindles are more robust than D4 ones, I find the last much more versatile and workshop friendly. As the years passed Deckel adopted a production oriented philosophy, and left his "manual" past behind...
