    Default Heidenhain ND960 DRO.... which parameter to tweak to get X axis reading accurate ?

    This on the Fehlmann P50.... the scales are hidden away within the table so I can't see which scale models it has....but the signal period is currently set at 40um.

    The issue is, if I move X to get 1.0000" travel on the DRO, the actual movement is about 1.20". So, seeing as the signal period choices at 10, 20, 40, 100 um seems like changing to one of those would result in more drastic differences. Thoughts ?

    1.270 perhaps?

    1000 line per inch scale.......

    Is there a scaling factor wound into the "X' Display?

    I remembered the 1270[well, close enough to look it up] because I once hooked an ooooooooooooooold US scale to a reader head, and it would read correctly in single thousandths[no half] in metric mode

    Some ideas to mess with:

    a. P1 (inch or metric)
    b. P11 Activate scaling factor
    c. P12.1 to 12.3 Scaling factor (factory setting is 1.000000
    d. P31.1 to 31.3 Signal period of encoder
    e. P32.1 to 32.3 Subdivision of encoder signal

    Scaling factor parameter P11 was "off" so,turned it on and that fixed it sure enough...thanks folks
