Hi all,

How does the Deckel 3m compare to the Dialog 4.

What are it's strong points and weaknesses.

How hard is it to change over the CRT to a LCD?

I have only operated the 3m machine. I have 2 3m fp4nc's. From what I heared the 3m was the more expensive control option if that has any significance. The negatives I can think of are , no dnc and because it was a less popular option there are less of these machines around so less spares. I like operating it, quite intuitive.

Don't have much to add other than that I helped a friend set one up and flipped through his programing manual when doing so. Seemed to have a bunch of built in 3D surfacing routines.

Doubt they would be used much these days but it hinted at a more capable processor than my Dialog 4 to be able to run those routines.

I like the 3m it vectors to position and is faster in production runs than the d4. ( I have both) It Programs like Fanuc controls.
It's limited memory storage can be a problem at times.
if you use the subroutines and canned cycles it is fine
It is every bit as capable as a D4 machine in accuracy and functionality but slightly faster in cycle times.
Make sure you have the parameter list on hard copy in case something goes wrong
