We are installing a new to us 2005 AGIE Classic wire EDM machine.
I have the OEM DI resin tank but no resin.

It has been suggested to simply buy a replaceable cartridge system in place of the OEM tank.
I am reading of bulk resin that can be regenerated and supposed lower operating cost.
Is it best to stay with the original tank, buy into the bulk service?

Has anyone done this? Is the original tank and bulk purchase of regenerable resin a good solution?

Got a better idea??

This machine will be used intermittent, is there a shelf life to the resin?
I understand it should not be allowed to dry out but if it stays submerged can it sit for weeks at at time?

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!

any of the edm suppliers can sell you exchange DI tanks. It's a whole lot easier to go this way than service your own. The DI tanks seem to last indefinitely when just setting. We only use our edm sporatically, and rarely have to change the DI bottle.

Thanks, makes sense. We have enough rules about hazmat already. Closed loop always seems to be best approach.

always best to use a pressure based resin system compared to resin loose in canister. You will get less down time with pressure based system
