Hi

Hope this question belong to this secction

what better way to make a point up die( for bullet making) using EDM?
We tried to make one for 224" caliber bullets and despite working for 12 hours, the electrode only advanced 12 mm on the carbide bar.

by any chance do you have any tips?

Carbide tricky to burn, what machine? I would burn the 2 halves from the parting line, burn depth .112, more surface area and more power you can put to it, you are trying to push a pointed trode into the die assembled I assume, some grades of carbide burn differently. Try tool steel instead, D-2 A-2 or one of the PM steels.
