Charmilles 290

Our company is searching for a EDM and never previously owned one. We have come across a 1997 Charmilles 290 with 6000 hours and it should be able to do 90% of our wire work. The company is asking $45K for the EDM. IS this a good price? What is the difference between the 290 of 1997 and the 2004, 290P? Anything we should be aware of when looking at the machine? They are replacing the nozzle due to a chip. We saw the machine run today and looks pretty new. The shop that is selling this machine has worked closely with me over the past 15 years, so I don't think they would sell me a lemon. At this point, we plan to attend the IMTS in search of the perfect EDM but, may still pick this one up. Thanks.

Contact Charmilles, see if there has been repair work or replacement parts ordered for that machine. I think they keep good records of repair visits. Mark

With 6000 hrs on it, if the machine is in good condition, that seems a pretty fair price, for '97
