Power contact wear during skimming.

Guys, just a sanity check question:
Do you experience increased power contact wear when skim cutting vs rough-only?

I am primarily a band-saw, one-cut shop, so that is what I have more experience with.
As such, I get about 50-60 of rough cutting hours before the contact is worn beyond my preference.
When skimming though, I seem to get to that wear point after roughly 30 or so hours.

Am I missing something or my observation is faulty?

What kind of machine are you running? There are alot of variables that can contribute to the wear. I typically do 1 rough and 3 skims and move my power contacts about every 150 hrs.

Probably due to higher wire tension used in skim cuts.

Curious about the machine brand as well.

Well, in this case it's a Makino U3, but have noticed it on the Brothers as well....

Of course, I could be just off my rockers with my observation.
