I usually run dual-shield flux core, and we buy Lincoln UltraCore. It's not the cheapest, but it works very well. I need to buy some .035 4043 MIG wire for a different job. For solid wire like this, is the brand important, or just get whatever the weld shop sells (Harris in this case)?

I bought some cheaper 4043 off Amazon or eBay and it works just as good as Lincoln or alcotech I have used in the past, I’ve used 4 or 5 of the 1 pound spools and no problems

Yeah, we went through a bunch of brands of 3/64 wire until we found one we liked, which happened to be Hobart. We still have 4 half used rolls of other wire brands that we retry occasionally and always hate.

They seem to all work okay on regular mig, but we do pulse on pulse welding and all sorts of fitups and a range of material thicknesses, and something got super sooty or balled up or were just inconsistent. I think one brand was oily, which didn't help.
