I have an opportunity to pick up a used Hobart Airforce 250ci at a reasonable price.

I'm aware this is a discontinued model, aware that at 110v it's low power, and aware that the on-board compressor isn't ideal.

I've got no plasma cutter for light fab work currently and my thought is that even a light-duty Hobart is probably better than a heavier-duty import. I'm hoping this would be an upgrade from tedious work with a grinder and/or PortaBand for sheet goods, angle iron, etc.

Wondering if anyone on the forum has used one, whether you were happy with it (at least for cutting less than 1/4"), whether you can confirm that consumables remain available, and whether there's any solid reason I should walk away from one assuming the price is a deal.

Thanks in advance.

Poking aorund on the Hobart site (the other "review" site was all fluff and
arm waving, no figures)

12 amps of cutting power ?

Note max is 1/8" and at only 10 IPM, I can do better with oxy/propane.

My old Hypertherm "Max 40" runs on 240 vac, and puts out 40 amps, and 1/4" is about
it's limit.

it depends on the price . if you're cutting sheet goods for body work , that
could be a useful machine. self-contained , no peripheral machinery- no tanks
or gasses . just a 12 GA extension.

stand - alone goes a long way .plug-n play.

heavy plate- it won't do .

i have the Miller 625 . it is rated for 5/8 , but i mostly use it to cut 11GA
to .250 stuff . i have to move the work to the 40A 220v setup. i can't take
it
to a jobsite or anywhere there's the wrong plug . 20-30-40 amp connectors
are of different diameters , even though they look similar.
