We are ordering some rolla-v dies, and asked about getting one 500mm length of die sectionalized. They want to charge $2500 to cut each die, and we need two of them cut.
This seems very high to me, considering these can be cut without worrying about any springs or whatever.
My question is, what is everyone's thoughts on sending these out to be EDM cut to length to our specifications? Probably 6 cuts or fewer per die, tolerances of 1/8" or so as long as the edges are square. No disassembly required, though we may need to take them apart after to relubricate them. I have of course not seen these dies in person yet.
Is there anything that would make these particularly difficult to cut or setup? If anyone wants to give a quote or knows of shops feel free. We could ship them directly from the manufacturer to wherever on our second wave of tooling purchases.
