i am building a leafspring front end for my motorcycle and am looking for some tapered tubing the old indian motorcycles had this type of front end and i am trying to replicate one the tube would need to be about 33-36 inches long and taper from 1 3/8" to 1" or somewhere close if you can help i would appreciate it thanks

Tapered tubing is usually spun, much like a velocity stack.

A google search for "metal spinning" will probably get you a source.

Silly question, but why not make it from solid?

MAKE IT FROM SOLID!!!?? That would be one heavy duty front end!
I suppose you could make a hollow one if you had the appropriate mandrel and then hot form and weld the sheet stock around it. Grind the welds flush and it should be just fine.

And oh yeah, didn't those chopper builders back in the 70" use some kind of part from a Ford front end to extend springer front ends?

How tough would it be to take a piece of tubing, cut a wedge out down the length, and weld it back together. May not be a prefect taper but I think it would work.
