I have a class 8 dump truck to pull my 12t tag trailer and move equipment, also a class 7 box truck. Have not used either in a few years and finally dropped the tags and insurance on the trucks. Insurance on the two big trucks and the big trailer was about 750 or so a year.
Plates are expensive if not using frequently to make money with them.

About 2 years ago I bought a 14ft 14,000gvw dump trailer. I can haul it with the one ton truck. Not as fast and fun as the big dump truck but WAY cheaper. If I had it to do over I would have went with a 16' dump trailer as I have used the trailer way more to haul machinery than stuff dumped into it.

The money you can save on your policies will have a nice impact on your bottom line. The best way to save money on your owner operator insurance is to get quotes from more than one agent.
