Hey there y'all.
I just recieved a 0-6" micrometer set from ENCO.
I found it very interesting that of their less-expensive sets, one that has ".0001 graduations" and one that has ".0001 accuracy". Subtle difference in wording, but a major difference in meaning.
In any case, I ordered carbide tipped, ".0001 acuracy" enameled mikes. I figured I'd get no-name chicom equipment.
What showed up on my doorstep were SPI brand, and they seem reasonably nicely constructed & finished, and seem to me to be good feeling. Per the other post on mikes, they have smooth threads, a nice firm stop at zero, i.e. not mushy, and using the eyes-closed test, all six of the mikes will stop at zero. I have only one modest complaint, and that is that the markings are etched, not engraved. The case, however, definitely lives up to my low expectations, which is sort of sloppy & cheezy.
My question is did I get something better than I ordered? They certainly exceed my expectations, and will meet my HSM hobby-ist needs, so I'm happy. I'm just curious.
