3/8-16 ID x 1/2-13 OD stainless threaded insert 3/4" long plus or minus 1/16 or so

Does anybody sell one? I have been searching for 2 days and haven't found one. I think I need to go the full depth as the top of the cast aluminum comes to a small block about 1/2" thick the meatier part of the block is just below that.

The original hole is 1-1/8" deep and threaded as far as it could be.

I do not want to go with a bigger OD insert because I fear it would be too big.

I am thinking about trying to drill and tap a 1/2-13 stainless bolt.

Can an N bit be used for a 3/8-16 tap bit?

I do not have a 7.7mm and was trying to use the smallest bit that would still allow the tap to work.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated
 
I am already drilled to 27/64 because I was looking for a 3/8-16 x 1/2-13 threaded insert. And because the hole was already egged out to that size

That should work perfect and McMaster is usually very fast. I've ordered in the morning and got stuff in the afternoon before. Same with Grainger and MSC

Do you know if these inserts are thread through style? I've run into some that have a bottom. The bolt threads in 3/4"

Just for reference, Can an N bit be used for a 3/8-16 tap bit?

I see the installation tool is rather expensive. Would a Grade * 3/8-16 bolt with a locking nut work just as good? Or a shoulder bolt?

Smallest d1 on the 1/2-13 is 0.3936 and the largest D om 3/8-16 is 0.3897. You're leaving only a potential 0.0039". In fact only a potential 0.002" of material. One thread should be changed. A finer pitch would also help.

I am going into a gear case for a motor mount on a 4 wheeler. The motor mount is 3/8-16 stud 3/4" long. I believe I have the same motor mounts in 3/8-24. I am guessing that I will have to go with a larger OD for the insert. Like the 17/32 above.

I am drilled to a depth of 7/8" with the 27/64 bit. The hole bottom is 1-1/8".

9/16-12 31/64 tap bit. 5/8-11 17/32 tap bit.

My concern about going bigger is the initial 1/2" the insert goes into is a rounded square about 15/16" diameter. I am trying to stay as small on the outside diameter to leave as much meat there as possible

Any suggestions for a different way of going about what I need to do, to install the motor mount?

I have never used Helicoils before. Only threaded inserts. I was under the impression that my hole was already too big for a helicoil - because I saw this -
