I have a very nice smooth working old Aloris piston toolpost. I have no issue with the piston type, but this particular Aloris has only one dovetail, and I only have one 90 degree type toolholder. I f I could get more tool holders like this I could use the toolpost but I am not having success finding more of these 90 degree type toolholders. There are some KDK types like this on ebay. Will KDK holders fit on an Aloris AXA dovetail?

Rotate the toolpost 90 degrees clockwise and use standard holders ? ? ?

The BXA on my Monarch 10EE has the dovetail facing the headstock.
I use all the standard toolholders with it

Then I would have to rotate the toolholder between every turning and boring cut. At that point it isn't a quick change toolpost any more.

You need to get a couple toolholders. And use both ends of the std toolholder. You will have to turn your toolpost 90* from time to time. I have an AXA piston toolpost and it works fine on my 10" lathe.

Throwing money towards obsolete tooling or machinery is rarely a good idea.

AXA? How small is this machine?

Mikel, thanks for answering about KDK. Watched the video, well done. This is for my soon to be completed Monarch. I think I’ll get an Aloris.
