Hi folks.
I just purchased my first apple watch and was wondering if there are any known uses for the apple watch in machining that I could pick up.
Thank you.

Take it off when you are using a machine. If you are going to wear a watch get one that has no electronics at all, I wear a stainless Rolex Submariner. Nothing in it but gears!

It's not a very bright idea to wear rings, watches, chains around your neck when working. Get a nice bottle of Crown Royal and use the purple draw bag to store
your watch.

If you use the crown royal bag for your jewelry, where will you store all of your fishing reels?

I find it very useful to be able to ask Siri math questions or set a timer while my hands are greasy. Same thing with being able to check messages or the phone without having to get my phone all dirty.

I've got it on a watch strap with a magnetic clasp that will pull off easily if it gets caught in something. Only downside is the magnet picks up chips here and there.

I was a bit worried about scratching the face of it, but its been two years and I only have one small scratch on it.

I'd do everything I could to keep Apple, Google, and all the other spy companies out of my operations.

Best not to have it on or near you when machining.
Nothing like the damn thing ringing/pinging when your running the tool close to a shoulder.

Distraction at best.

I think those watches are practically a guarantee of blindness. Looking at porn, and on such small screen?

Probably the OP is thinking about using the watch as a calculator for speeds and feeds and other useful things that would make the old-timer machinist shutdown
the equipment, wash hands, and open the Machinery Handbook. There are machinist calculators right? For now I just write notes on paper. Keeps my Machinery Handbook in good condition. :D

Not making fun of the OP's question. I DO use Crown Royal bags for storing only the finest stuff. I do not drink the stuff but on dog walks I find those bags on the ground. There is also a peach or apricot color bag as well.

Apple success?
I remember a documentary about Steve Jobs. He needed something from you and you were his best friend. Otherwise you got something else. His behaviour didn't contribute to good health.

I all seriousness, outside of asking Siri math questions, I can't think of much you could do out of the box.

Now, with a decent budget for integration, you could do a lot for machine monitoring. My previous employer built a factory and the machines would page the operator when they needed a human. Having machine status, requests for help, etc. integrated into a smart watch would be pretty slick. But the smart watch is by far the cheapest part of that scenario.

I've heard the same about other so called ''very successful'' etc etc men, .......... I know for a fact that Richard Branson can be as nice as pie to get something and the asshole's asshole when he doesn't.

Since you brought this up first. I was thinking about starting into this subject an hour ago.

Does thoughts and excessive drive, or hate, or any emotion to boil you up: can this make you age faster and/or die early?
That saying "the meek will inherit the Earth". ( I think I heard that before a few times).

In scientific terms:
Do thoughts in the human brain cause chemicals to be formed that are harmful? (I believe this, seen it for myself)

In layman's terms:
Do morons live longer?

I guess it is safe to wear a watch if you are doing work with CNC machines with doors and lockout mechanisms.
I like Rolex watches. One fine mechanism I could not afford to own. Always wanted a new Porsche 911 too.
