Hey guys,

as the title asks, anyone here ever install a bushing in a drill press quill bore?

mine has about .020 slop and I figure the bushing would be the best repair. I know some guys install gib screws by drilling into the casting and threading some holes - anyone here ever done that? were the results acceptable?

Thanks.

Slightly different application but same concept- on a lathe tailstock it's generally preferred to machine the bore back round and build up the quill to fit.

That's probably what I'd strive for in this app. A bushing would probably remove the free motion, but I don't youd have any control of where it put it, if you will.

On a drill press as long as the stroke is vertical it does not matter if the bore is not centered on the old one. On a tailstock it makes a difference.
