So I hope this thread will get some views as wages (for better or worse) is a pretty good topic around here. When is a good time to ask about pay? I'm in a situation where I make good money, but am not happy. I am ok to make a little less, but not a lot less. It seems like a waste of time to do the pre-employment dance of resume, interview, etc and find out we are way out of line in terms of pay and benefits. And I mean a waste of time for everyone, not just me. I know as an employer it costs money (time=money!) to do the interview, review resumes, make phone calls, etc etc..
So what say ye - when is it appropriate to ask about pay? I know it is probably not a good conversation starter to say "how much can/will you pay me", but I also want to get this out of the way as quickly as possible. IMO, nothing is worse than to think you found a great opportunity only to find out the employer isn't offering a decent (yes that is subject ) wage, or they are looking at more of a starter position and want to pay accordingly...
