I have a friend doing a startup project that want to laser mark serial numbers and such on the product. They are planning to make the body of the product from PBT in the color pantone 355. To get laser marking tested, validated, etc. they need some accurate samples. Cannot seem to find sheets of this material in that color.

What is the fast way to get such test coupons? Is there a standard term for this in the injection molding industry? Most any coupon would do so long as it has a flat face and is say at least 2cm x 2cm or larger.

Thoughts on how to get this, in the particular material and color, quickly?

You might ask if they can mold your compound an color in a tensile test "dog bone" This will be a flat piece that should be easy to mark on. Its a standard shape so the material company should have a mold.

Either a test plaque mold as mentioned or ask the colorant supplier to provide a bunch of samples. Nobody is going to have any sort of special color handy other than the colorant supplier.
