Bit the bullet. Grabbed my ankles. Took it up the arse.

I bought a factory new, 0-12 micrometer set.

Gotta say....

Not disappointed... so far.

I have porn shots, from ups kicking it up my lot, to me sniffing the opened goodness, but, alas, my phone no longer loves my email.

Anyway, just wanted to say, Me Likey.

I often wondered if new micrometer and new car smell was the same, perhaps a line of new mitutoyo spray would catch on, I ounce possessed a 1-12 mitutoyo in a wooden case but it was by no means new, non digital btw, still have the stick mic set up to 2,5 m, doesn’t see much action was going to sell that, using a bloody big mic for fabrication is overkill to say the least!, it smells oily btw
Congratulations,
Mark

Man, you just shit in my oatmeal. Non digital here, also. And here I was, walking tall, naked, with a swagger, and a goddamn mosquito shows up, and shows me whats up. insert sad face here

Nice! I've been drooling over some Brown & Sharpe stuff for *years*, so congratulations on finally getting what you wanted!

(PS it depends on where the mosquito bit you)
(PPS that wasn't a bullet you were biting, it was....)

FWIW, *all* of my stuff is mechanical, nobody asks to borrow vernier anything because they don't know how to read it any more.

For true. Today, as a retired guy, I've got more and better measuring instruments than the shops back in the day where I took my job work. That's because no one wants the good old stuff and it's out there for dirt cheap.

How fucked up is it, that I cant bring myself to unwrap these lil bitches. I did a few shaft repair jobs yesterday, and still used my old mismatched mics.

Reminds me of the couples who get china for their wedding and 40 years later realize that they never used it. "We never had an occasion nice enough to use it!"

Unwrap them all, check them against the standards or jo blocks, record results and then put them back in the box unwrapped, ready to use.

And enjoy the sensation of precision goodness when you make that first measurement...

I would not be writing this if it were not for a mishap yesterday with my relatively new Millennium Series Mitutoyo Limited Edition.
The bar that extends from the right end is 1/4" wide. Could not find the depth of a hole small diameter hole like with my Starrett.

I am a Mit. fan too, but only have two, both 1" one analog, one digital eyesight deterioration responsible for the digital purchase

Just remember, the only difference between a cheap one nowadays, and an expensive one, is the sound the owner makes when it hits the floor. (generally it sounds like a nut shot while wearing baggy pants)

Thanks to the miracles of CNC, and offshoring labor to countries with dirt floors.
