I purchased a used Buck "Adjust-Tru" 8" Chuck and while removing the D1-4 mount noticed that it was terribly dirty and corroded between the mount and main body. Seems like it was used a lot with coolant and never serviced. It cleaned up well but I was unable to take apart the main body of the chuck to clean the ring gear, etc. I assume it's just as bad inside. Any ideas on taking this thing apart?

How about posting what you found out, to help the next poor slob who has this question?

Good point. Using the screws holding the two halves together, tap them while they are unscrewed and slightly proud of the main body. The ring gear pops out when the halves are separated. I'm a little embarrassed that I didn't think of it before posting the question. It's that simple.
