C-Clamp - Made in USA?

I just got in a new 6" C-Cramp from McMaster.

Of course you never know what flavour that you're gunna git with much of anythng from there, but it's always "The Good Shtuff".

So as I unpacked my box of goodies today, I dug out the new cramp and found that it said "Wilton" on it.

Oh - OK....

"Made in China to Wilton spec's".

oh .....


So - anyone still making C-cramps in the States? (or Canada)

Last one I got at the hardware store is a Brink and Cotton. Has Made is USA forged right into it.

Ox -- Don't know if the question is about the loss of forged tool making in the US -- or where to get a good made-in-US C-clamp. If the latter, might try these guys:

Williams sells C clamps. Listed as USA made. Not too bad on price either.

Appears Proto has them too. Not sure on pricing.

Just bought a few williams last month. Made in USA stamped on the body, and they seem just as fine as my older williams “drop forged” usa clamps.

Got to thinkin' - McM had at least 2 and maybe up to 4 different level / grades etc of cramps. ('pending on size)
I might see if they offer Yank in one of the grades next time.

Sure hard to imagine McM selling Chinc when there is Yank available!

Wright Tool does. I'd suggest called McMaster and asking.

Maybe try T & S Tool & Supply Co just up the road in Holland, OH

Just use an older Starret Micrometer. Made is USA.

Yeah, they're cool. You can use them to clamp stuff to your Japanese machine tool.

I’m not sure what you mean. I don’t own any japanese machine tools?

Cost? Our favourite clamps are the Bessey style. We have a few originals but lately we've been buying Chinese
clones. They're just as well made, they work just as well and they're usually priced at about 1/4 the cost of a
genuine Bessey...

Are Armstrong clamps made in the US? Not sure, but the ones I have I bought about 10 years ago are really nice.

I'll try Wright's from T&S next time.
That's what/where I git fer hand tools these days, but hadn't figgered them for cramps.
