It's the Rutland I bought a few nights ago. I was told Rutland did not make mills. I was wondering who might have. It was made in Taiwan but everything I've checked is SAE as far as nuts and bolts go. It was made it 1988 according to the date code. Don't know much beyond that.

What difference does knowing which Taiwan shop made the mill make?

You could ask Rutland, which was bought by MSC years ago, but why bother?

I started buying from Rutland around 1970 and they sold some Japanese stuff then. Some time in the 1980's, the Taiwan shops began to take over the USA market for lower cost machinery and tooling. The Rutland catalogs never said where they got their stuff.

It's just a tick of mine. I like to know the roots of old tools I have.
