I'm currently in a 930 sq/ft shop with 2 VMC's (Mori and Kitamura), a twin spindle lathe (Lynx), 2 CMM's, surface plate and optical comparator, along with deburring benches and shelving. It's tight, to say the least.....
However, I've got a 1,400 sq/ft addition being built onto the shop that will afford me some room to expand and be less cramped. A lot of my work comes to me from my customers in pre-cut form, so it just gets stuck on a shelf until it's time to run the job.
This process works for now, but I'd like to eventually get a horizontal bandsaw to be able to process material for other customers. I'm not interested in a manual cold saw or bandsaw where you just run one part at a time, pull stock, reset etc. Programmable and semi-auto is what I'm looking for.
While I will have floor space available to me for pretty much anything, I'd like to get as compact as possible. Material would be aluminum 1.5 x 5 and stainless up to 6" round, as that represents a lot of the work that I typically do. The bigger the saw is, the more I have to consider where to put it and place machines in relationship to that new equipment.
Budget is TBD, but I'm aware that I can be into it for $$$$
Slightly tempted to look at the Tormach, but.......Tormach.
