Hi, I have many pieces of copper, mainly 3/8 and 1/2 thick, these are leftover from various projects.

I know I need pur 99% copper to plate parts without contamination of acid bath.

Buy the color, they look like 99% copper but, is there a way to be sure that this is not some kind of alloy.

Real anode copper (good size) are quite expensive.

Thanks for any help, Jeff

There are spot acid testing kits that would allow you to check for impurities, but these tend to be expensive if you buy them as kits (instead of knowing the acid composition and buying them in bulk). You could do some searching on that topic and see if anything pops up.

Also, you can try this forum: Finishing: Anodizing, Plating, Powder Coating, & Surface Finishing as they're a great resource for such questions on plating and anodizing.
