If I recall correctly, It was DJT that was standing against our "roll over and show our necks" economic relationship with China.
He got a lot of push back for that.

What are the sentiments now? Xenophobia on steroids! We don't expose ourselves to anyone.

Under review by the media and people against the POTUS there is always some spin doing a number on things. It boils down to deeply entrenched beliefs.

Reason and balance are best seen when it best can be solutions oriented. The representatives represent us and regardless of how things have gotten this way we must expect our representatives to work together to move the country ahead.

They can disagree yet they absolutely must know when to stop choking each other and just get something done. History and the people who review these times will judge all of our actions.

Certainly one can't blame Trump for what a virus has done to global confidence. I mean, markets tanked world wide, not just here.
I think that has been a significant positive to a huge number of ordinary people. (not so much now however)
Not much, the fundamentals were already in place and the juice spilled on it by the tax breaks may have raised it a couple of points. I am still looking for "the positive for a huge number of people" thing. What is it? Name it. No one is blaming Frumpy for COVID, but he is for sure guilty ignoring it and fucklng up the emergency response. World win zero. Putin is laughing and Cum Jung Un is loving his rockets, the Iranians are making nukes... We lost the trust of all our allies. Gimme some positives, still waiting...

I understand it though it takes a while. The fact he drives things home so effectively is remarkable and I notice a lot of people look past what he says even for years. What he says hurts their ears and eyes.

On a hole another twisted mind comment....

The Administration might consider appointing members "across the aisle" to oversee and co-ordinate pandemic response.

You know, to make it bi-partisan. Then we would all see and learn how to do things RIGHT!

They should have written it into the bill?

There are IG's in all the Dept's that are supposed to do that. They could appoint a special IG like they did for the TARP and Afghan and Iraq reconstruction spending.

There was no special commission to "oversee" the ARRA in 2009.

"Bipartisan" in this context means "partisan". The Intelligence Committee is a "bipartisan" committee. The Dems outnumber, so they shut down the Repubs and there's your "bipartisanship".

No, this needs to be done NON-partisan. Appoint a Special Investigator General, give him the subpoena power if he needs it, and he reports to the DOJ and Congress.

Dems tried to write Trump's real estate holdings out of the bill. His resorts and clubs are closed just like the rest. Pelosi gave the committee subpoena power- so yeah, looks like another Dem witch hunt forming up.

They will use it to go after Trump's financials. Fair play, his companies should get the same treatment as everyone else under the stimulus, but they won't.

The party of pointless investigations, lol.

sensible immigration policies are necessary that includes getting workers in short supply, paying them less than locals is criminal. if you want to pay lower wages offshore the work and suffer the management headaches. Offshoring should be taxed so it is not profitable. You argue for bigger government to manage these issues.

    IF

The commission can act in good faith and earnesty, It will be a good thing to put the dogs on a leash.
Pelosi does not have a good track record on being effective at keeping things on track. Too many dogs snarling from all sides.
    The state runs deep.

This is a very serious mistake. If Churches are not observing the distancing in addition to having large crowds on Easter then it will show in new cases of infection.

    This is too sad.
