How many places you would touch when traveling on fully packed subway vs walking on street?

NYC has 10 times bigger population and almost double the % of public transport users List of U.S. cities with high transit ridership - Wikipedia
20 times more people using public transport in NYC vs SF.

BUT Still minuscule amount of cases in SF vs NYC. 500 cases vs 100k cases. And NYC testing is totally overloaded. Real number of infected in NYC is anywhere between 200k to 900k
Stay-at-home orders could explain maybe 2 to 4-fold difference between NYC and SF. Factor in 4x increase from time delay and 10x larger population the NYC would be at 20k cases at the moment instead of 200k++ cases.

Uhhh Bob? "Ball" games with tattooed prostitutes don't necessarily class as mass gatherings, let alone public events.

Mind.. all I know about such things is what I read in the funny papers. The Big Kids don't much share what THEY know on this sorta deal.

One might guess there are fewer tattooed prostitutes not already booked solid than free-range rolls of toilet paper left in the wild?

Guess we are due for an "Executive Order" specifying that all-hands should stay home, find an internet forum, mentally masturbate online?

As usual, on the evidence, Government is weeks if not MONTHS behind another power-curve.

NYC sidewalk with the subways running is packed wall to wall, really, only time you see that in Boston is a parade. I mean a literal fog of breath. 10 blocks on the subway, sure you touch more things, but you get within 6 feet of far fewer people, I would think.

Partly because of age, partly possibly because of easier hospital "intake" and expectations in US.

From what I have heard the US is much the same as Thailand where my wife is from: You go to doctor and expect to get medication even if its useless antibiotics for virus infection or go to hospital and expect to stay in ward instead of being sent to home since you have only slight fewer and runny nose. Better or worse but you don't get much "feel good" treatment from public healthcare in here.

With the lowest-IQ president ever, why are we surprised?

    Honestly, I hope not.

    what worries me:

    Italy first fatality: Feb 21
    Italy 5000th: March 22

    29 days

    US first fatality: 3/1
    US 5000th 4/1

    31 days

Italy's new case numbers curve 'broke' the day they hit 5000

    Ours have not.

Until the new case load curve breaks, we will not know what the peak looks like.

We took 31 days to hit 5k deaths, at the very most it take 5 more to double that[7000 today]

Anyone who claims to know the peak is full of it

EVERYTHING is the fault of Trump's leadership. It's why we gave him the job.

NOTHING was ever the fault of a Clinton.

Obama didn't much make of a distinction, eventually gets ranked as Jimmy Carter with overtime allocated out of apathy.

Thanks for that. It's djt being djt - a reactive, vindictive, all-about-him clown getting in the way of progress. But progress will occur despite him, so we can look forward to that.

BTW, snowman - I appreciate what you mentioned in an earlier post about how you don't block anyone. I decided to go ahead and remove most of the noise - the attention seeker, the few that are simply so dim they are unable to contribute, and most of the "relentlessly wrong".

It's done amazing things for my blood pressure.

If only we had a real leader in all of this. A Democrat leader would've been nice.

Someone who could actually pass funding bills and drive the national agenda with their actions.

    YouTube

    Thank GOD for Nancy Pelosi.
After she got done praying for the president, why did she wait to enact funding legislation for the coming pandemic?

What a shame to waste all that time.

WHEN you complete your return to sanity, please do return and post on Manufacturing-related challenges'- rather than poisonous and personalized "identity" politics as were rotting yer own brain. And doing nought ELSE, if yah somehow MISSED that part.

As the saner among us have continued to do the whole time of your personal shit-show.

Given the last two months, I'd go for a Bush. I mean, we'd probably be bombing Afghanistan for giving us Corona, but we wouldn't be in this clusterfuck of a mess we are right now.

The two constants are deaths and population.
This site gives deaths per million of population
Coronavirus Update (Live): 1,095,653 Cases and 58,809 Deaths from COVID-19 Virus Outbreak - Worldometer

    USA 21, Italy 243, Spain 240, Germany 15, Franc 100, UK 53, Denmark 24, Ireland 24. Canada 6, Japan .5,

Good to do some research to figure why Germany, Japan and Canada are so low.
