Looks like toilet paper hoarding is still at an all time high. McMaster was quoting 3 week lead time two weeks ago, it is now up to 7-8 weeks. Looks like Uline got some in, limit two cases to customers with account numbers that have made a recent purchase as in 2019 or later. I cannot believe the pathetic behavior of some people. Hoarding TP and this virus rarely gives people the runs. It says most people lose their appetite. Looks like some states are going full on martial law, Rhode Island trying to keep the New Yorkers out.

So if Germany is literally testing everyone, then it would be fair to assume that as a ratio Spain (and perhaps Italy) actually has a HUGE amount more people infected than showing.

Age - have you any data which shows this (Germany being younger)?
    Germany:
    Experience

    Italy: https://www.epicentro.iss.it/coronav...arzo%20ENG.pdf

Italy with 56% of cases over age of 60, Germany 22% over 60.

Also Korea vs. Italy age distribution:

Korea and Italy age distributions are almost opposites.

Germany has a remarkably low coronavirus death rate — thanks largely to mass testing, but also culture, luck, and an impressive healthcare system

    Good link, Ox.

Germany did what several of us were suggesting we should have been close to two months ago. Have tests. Test widely, Isolate those with the virus. Have the health infrastructure to treat the (fewer) number who then need things like ventilators.

Also helps that their health care system covers all their citizens. Those facing $$$ to get care early on, without the spare $$$, aren't go to get care or get tested. They'll go on to infect others.

Cultural differences - i note that most people i see (Spanish) smoke. Including all the younguns. Maybe a "thing"?
Also, i wonder how the Germans are treating people with it - especially the advanced stage? Are they doing *something* different to Spain/Italy?
Possible cultural differences: Smoking, socialising with large number of people, maintaining your "personal space", keeping in touch with your grandparents (grandparents taking care of grandkids in Italy vs. seeing grandparents once per month like here in Finland..) and Italians talking too much and passionately

Haven't heard really that much different about treatment in Germany.

15-21 percent of people over the last 40 years believe abortion should always be illegal

    Guys a heads up.
The Marina where my shop is has a large service staff and it has been like nothing was up-
    Busy bees everywhere.
    Suddenly many there are sick.
I feel like a complete idiot that I went anywhere near the place to try to keep contracts going.
    The risk wasn’t worth it.
Take care guys- keep head down.

Heathen! Don't you know that ectopic pregnancies are god's will, as he/she/it demands the sacrifice of both mother and fetus? How dare you suggest there's reasons to have safe abortion services available.

Some numpty told me this morning (in all seriousness) he had to stock up on condoms - because they're going to stop making them to keep people apart, ………..he was absolutely sure of it - after all it was on Facebook.

And ''they'' wonder why the virus has spread so easily?

Ok I can watch and be entertained for a while yet there will be no promises though from me. It is not for forever.

I actually hoped you could calm down a bit finally.

No Pete I can’t hang. Sometimes I tire of all the shrillness. This is especially disappointing during the pandemic. I have friends, collegues, and family I care about and of course I like people on here off and on.

    No one is perfec.

Lucky bastard.....this whole fear of the unknown with a pandemic has been the best damn birth control money can buy for us.

I wish I could be so blissfully ignorant, and have a partner that was the same.

Poor wife broke down yesterday when it became real that she probably won’t get to see her students again this year.

Crap. Have you been standing upwind of them? Washing your hands?

Keep track of your temperature and any aches or coughs. Good luck!

There are a lot of people who turn to religion in hard uncertain times. There are not as many people as before the orders in places to stay home. This could mean there are less visits to PP.

One lady now is saying that unwanted pregnancy is all the man’s fault and that women need to stand up to them. Birth control for women is harder than for men and so on. She has become sort of famous. She is a Mormon and a mother of five.

Unfortunately I am back in hospital.
The folks here are dead serious.
Told me to halt at entry and blocked door till explanation given for entry.
    The place is EMPTY.
VERY rigid patient isolation practice in place.
I haven’t seen another soul except for nurses and doctors.
