This testing business is IMO blown out of proportion and causing a lot of unnecessary fear. Flu is still dangerous and so are many other respiratory infections. In spite of that what we've seen locally is a hospital diverting enormous amounts of resources to "testing" ambulatory people, many of whom are totally symptom free. Those resources could be put to better use.
This is absolutely incorrect. Think of the testing as the CMM, gauges, and micrometers that keep your machining processes on track. Without them, you don't have a clue whether your process is starting to drift out of spec, and can fix things before you make a million scrap parts (which does not happen exponentially, unlike COVID).

We absolutely need testing to figure out where this disease is, whether it's spreading, who is carrying it undetected, who is most at risk, which responses are working, whether it has mutated, etc. Without testing, you are flying blind. Intentionally blinding oneself at a time like this would be really dumb. Lacking a vaccine, cure, or a willingness to let the disease run unchecked (you and your grandma go first and report back how it goes), it seems like the only way out of social distancing is to test and figure out the epidemiology.

I suggest you personally go down to the local ER or retirement home and ask the nurses and doctors whether they want a reliable test, or whether testing is "blown out of proportion." "Blown out of proportion" sounds like something out of that purveyor of "truth and fairness" known as Fox News.

Well, someone IS listening to comrade Goldstein.

This was on the local news this morning. Rhode Island is deploying the National Guard and state police to "hunt down" certain people (New Yorkers) over the coronavirus.

"Right now we have a pinpointed risk," Gov. Gina Raimondo (D) said on Friday. "That risk is called New York City."

The Bloomberg article says "police" but the news cast showed soldiers in uniform stopping cars and questioning the occupants. They had "military Police" banners on their chests. Martial law, anyone?

My question; Is the government going to "give" all of our rights back after the nation's mayors and governors have spent a month acting as rulers?

A view from India. Cheap diy type tests makes a lot of sense to me, as does the video tbh.

Placing the phone in one of those aluminized mylar-lined food pouches (empty of course) will easily defeat that. It acts as a Faraday cage.

Default Corona virus affecting your business ? Over reaction?

When all this is said and done, China will pay a heavy economic price, as the countries of the world who were ravaged by this Covid-19 pandemic will look elsewhere for cheap sub-contracting.

The people of the world are going to forever look at China in a different way, and that’s generally going to be a negative, untrusting, and unwilling to commit to business.

I don’t give a shit how “large” China’s internal market is, without being able to provide and sell to the world, their economy will be screwed.

China gets what they deserve when the leaders act retarded by denying this mess, and not doing more early to stop it in its tracks early on.

    And they could have!

And that’s what the world will always remember...

I'm wondering what would be different if I replaced USA with China in your post?

I'd strongly suggest you read up on what's happening outside the USA.

I'm certain that this is not what Trump meant by "America first".

Despite what you believe I'm neither pro China or anti USA. I do know what goes on in other countries and like to think I´m up to date.

Interestingly I think there is a move afoot in NY state to require anyone who drives in that state to possess a valid NY drivers license, and to
have their car registered in NY.

Violators will have their cars confiscated.

Or just turn the phone off instead of playing with foil hat games.

Can you remember how trumpski has acted retarded by denying this mess?

Then what is the likelihood that anyone will remember the mistakes China made?

The missing six weeks: how Trump failed the biggest test of his life | US news | The Guardian

Six weeks of dithering, lies, and avoidance. But hey, it's not Fux news, so it can't be truth, can it?

I guess we could ask ourselves some questions

'can a phone still send/receive data in some way even when turned off?'
'can a phone signal be largely blocked by as simple a structure as a faraday cage?'
'why is it that phones are designed these days with an integral battery rather a removable one?'

Or we could dish out the labels given to us and like each others posts

And I thought that the Obama vs. Trump bullshit battle earlier in this thread was stupid. I was clearly mistaken.

You believe that if your phone is turned off, its impossible for an entity with sufficient intent and resource to track its location?
