If a 1/2 x 10 x 10 piece of hot rolled steel flat bar is milled on one 10 x 10 surface will the machining alone cause the metal to distort and not be flat . When I say machining alone I mean heat and clamping pressure are not factors .I would remove about 20 thousandths .
I heard that cold rolled flat bar distorts quite a lot.
