Need help identifying a mysterious steady rest

Decent sized, 5" capacity, poor shape, about 100lbs. Owner didn't remember what lathe it went to, but he had owned a Colchester 13x36 mk1 and 15x50 8000 series. May or may not be from those. Only casting Mark is "976" or "979," can't tell last digit. Something tells me it's older than either of those machines, though. One of the most heavy duty rests I've seen.

Yes, I agree that keyhole center seems rather unique. Thanks for the suggestion. Looked over all the Lodge & Shipley rests and couldn't find a match yet.
 
Wow, you nailed it. I'm impressed. That's definitely the rest. Now if only I can find one of the 15 owners of one of these lathes, haha.
