Default Drano eat alum, ok for steel?

had a mishap that caught in time to cause any damage, however I have alum galling on my face mill. Doing some search on here and Drano was recommend. They only had the hair type, https://www.lowes.com/pd/Drano-Drano...-oz/1001210174. It's like a water down gel, think dish soap in a bottle. I called around looking for pure lye but no luck.

Face mill is a ASX Mitsubishi

Just double checking, this is ok and won't damage my face mill.

My local hardware store has cans of flake sodium hydroxide (lye). Nasty stuff but really works on hair, grease and yes, aluminum..............Bob

I use it to clean clogged files. Takes off everything that isn't steel. The files must be oiled immediately after to prevent flash rust.

When I use oven cleaner I spray the item and then put it in a plastic box with a tight lid to "soak" without evaporating. It's slower than pure lye so it sometimes needs an hour or two or even overnight.
