Hi all,

I am looking for a couple of 3ph 7.5HP motors for use on my Quincy QR-350 compressor pumps. I was wondering if the following motor is suitable for compressor usage:

The specs are correct - 1765 RPM, 230 volts, SF 1.15, so to the untrained eye it seems like it would be a fine selection. But sometimes we don't know what we don't know....is there any reason why this wouldn't be a good choice for a compressor which I expect to be running a lot? I figure this is an old model as I can not find any information or applications on it on the web, beyond a couple on ebay for sale.

Also, when a motor says "thermally protected" does this mean that external heaters are not required?

Thanks for any advice.

Thermally protected indicates the manufacturer has buried a thermistor in the windings and pulled the wires out so the customer has the option to use them to trip the load in a overheat situation. Some type of overload is still required for over-current protection.
