I am trying to decide on a decent mini lathe to get. I require:

(1) Customer service/parts availability
(2) Dual direction rotation
(3) Fairly precise stock chuck

What I am grinding is graphite, so a 3/4 HP motor should be fine as I don't need the torque. It would be handy if I could get accessories for it (such as milling bed attachment), but not necessary. I am trying to spend about $1000, so I have been looking at Grizzly, Central Machinery, Erie Tools, etc. Central Machinery is a no go because of Harbor Freight's INCREDIBLY POOR customer service. Grizzly p***ed me off when I tried to buy their G8688 before the end of the year then they raised the price on their unit and won't adjust their price, but I may yet go with grizzly. I know next to nothing about Erie Tools, currently researching them, and I'm about to check South Bend. Jet lathes were more machine than needed and thus more costly than I would like. Does anyone know of any decent mini metal lathes for under $1000 that have decent customer service?

Thanks for reading!
