I saw a "Model 820 made in Taiwan" - can't find anything online - wondered if anyone knew the mills.

Manufactured by "HOMGE MACHINERY" 1985

thanks

There are many "generic" mills and lathes made in Taiwan--chances are that's what you have. A picture or
two would go a long way...

Glorified square Column mill drill ! Pain in the ass to change speeds just like a mill/drill. Made the mistake 40 years ago buying a mill/drill won't repeat THAT !

Mix of Linley style Jig Borer and Mill. Looks to be basically bigger brother to Myford VMB. Short travel quill in housing that can be slid up and down the main column then locked in place.

Going by the VMB that layout is somewhat sturdier and more accurate than the generic import square column mill but something of a PIA to use as general purpose machine.

With the DRO fitted best thought of as a co-ordinate drilling machine with light milling capabilities. Half decent machine if you have the right sort of work for it. I know of folk who have a Myford VMB and consider the ease with which you can switch between short drills, long drill and milling cutters a good trade off for limited depth milling capabilities and inability to exploit larger cutters.
