Frustrated with cheap taps from Canadian Tire, perhaps a small step up from Harbor Freight, I bought some Hanita 1/4" NC H3 uncoated straight flute HSS taps for hand tapping through holes in mild steel in a tapping fixture and freehand.
Does anyone have a catalogue or description of Z-82, W-82 (8003), Y-82 (8000)? Wondering if there is a functional difference. Googling failed.
None are a taper tap nor gun tap design that would push the chips through, both increasing risk of breakage.
I use Relton RapidTap Cutting Fluid but am open to your favourite magic recipe to help with my poor choices and inexperience, just to make the discussion more interesting : - )
