I came across a collet marked Hardinge 2B Simmons. The Hardinge catalog shows it as a collet for a Simmons turret lathe and describes it as "conventional style master collet and pad." The pad fits in the bottom and looking down inside it has what looks kind of like a bolt with a recess in the head screwed into the pad. Anyone know how these collets work and what is the function of the pad and the "bolt"? This must be a big lathe because the collet is pretty big.
Thanks.
