I have a old boring bar that uses this carbide insert, but there is no number or brand on it. Can someone identify this insert by these pics? It is a positive rake, it has a 3/8" inscribed circle and is .130 thick, the hole is tapered about .230 at the top and .177 at the bottom. R. is .032
Is this a C or a P and how to know the difference without an optical comparator?
The hole is a ISO standard for a 3/8 IC insert.
The rad size at the bottom exit sort of looks like a C bit hard to tell.
If you have a surface plate and height gauge you can measure the height but a C to a P is .006.
Caliper measure on the bottom side on the "B" dimension is over twice that but an eyeball measurement.
In a straight on side picture the rake or side angle can be measured.
