Hi All,

I am looking to get new way oil for this Surface grinder (Boyar-Schultz Challenger Deluxe 2A), and looking into the manual it mentions "Sun Oil Company - Way Lubricant #80 or Equivalent".

I was wondering if people had suggestions of a modern equivalent and favorite places to buy it.

Thanks!

Hey Paul,

Thanks for the tip. It always amazes me at the variety of backgrounds of the people on this forum :)

There's also a multi-brand distributor - or hundreds of them - where you will find the Sunoco product is much less expensive!

One of my favourites - note the cross references and comparisons, each category

Mobil Vactra Oil No. 2 | 5 Gallon Pail

Downside is a SG doesn't USE all that much of anything, and the Mobil product is easier to find in smaller containers, Sunoco more often in larger drums, only.

mobile vactra oil composition has changed over the years.

I would suggest a double check is in order.

Do you need a tacky oil or one that runs off the ways?

I have been running Vactra #2 since the late 90's in my S/G The Boyar Schultz is a 100% loss system, and all the lube is drained to a catch can after it runs off the ways.
