I’m wanting to get a couple different chucks for a lathe I acquired from a family member. I removed the chuck to measure the threads I got 2”-8tpi. Upon googling it nothing seems to come up. Any help is appreciated

Are you sure it is not 2 1/4" X 8tpi. The only reason I ask is that I did a quick search for 2" and couldn't find squat. Shars sells a back plate in 2 1/4 X 8tpi.

Outside point to outside point of thread was 1.985”. This is an old lathe only markings is “national” cast into the back. The current 3jaw chuck is a j.m.w made in India with no markings besides the manufacturer tag

Must be older. My National "catalog", which I suppose is from the early twenties, only goes down to 2 3/8 - 8 on the 14"

Any such will need back plates made to fit your spindle. The trouble with just saying 2"-8 is none of the features - if present - are addressed.

Example of features is this Lodge & Shipley chart from 1910
