We have a warner swasey #3 that bogs down quite a bit when you take a cut. Even with a small cut like .02 it loses umph. At low rpm, itll almost stop the chuck. Now ive ran these machines all my life. Seems like any ive run in the past have had power for days. Can anybody tell me whats going on?

Box on the back of the machine say 240. Cant see whats on the motor. Its plugged into 208. I dont know whats going on with it.

our #5 can hit .5 doc without bowing down. you definitely have a problem.

is this a war machine? or is it a hydraulic machine made later on?

This could be as easy as a dated piece of electrical gone bad or a clutch.

You need to find out if the motor is slowing down when you take a cut.

Of the top of my head voltage is roughly squared to hp on a induction motor, ie half the voltage, you quarter the delivered HP. A thick gear oil and a headstock full of gears will happily eat a couple of hp to start with too so it can have a surprisingly big effect even on a 10+hp machine
