how i made my lathe chuck spider

Since you are open to suggestions:

The way you cut off the aluminium corners with a long exposed blade close to your hands/arms is highly dangerous. Use a guard.
 
At least fab up a blade guard and get a contouring blade. the blade you have mounted looks to be just for strait cuts.

That is the most frightening vertical saw setup in use I have ever seen.

Meh...I do this frequently.
Guard ? where is one needed ?

Hands are not on the cut line.

Yes, the blade width is too wide, and yes the OP horsed it a bit much (note under lower guide blade is moving
from too much pressure).

And yes, blade catches once or twice, but not much harm done
and piece is roughed out quickly, ready for lathe.
